Due to the global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the Florida Gang Investigators Association (FGIA) Board has decided we have no choice but to make the necessary and responsible decision to cancel the 2020 FGIA Annual Conference and Specialist Courses scheduled for at the Hyatt Coconut Point in Bonita Springs, Florida, August 3-7, 2020. 

 The decision to cancel the 2020 FGIA Conference was one of the most difficult decisions the board has made, but it is simply the thing to do during this unprecedented time.  Your Board has been closely monitoring the advice of health experts, the Florida Dept. of Health, and local mandates. Protecting the health, safety, and well-being of everyone (our attendees, presenters, vendors, & hotel staff) associated with our conference is paramount and serves foremost as the reason for our decision to cancel our annual Conference for the first time since 1993. With additional travel restrictions imposed on those traveling to and from Florida, it became difficult to provide you with the quality training you have come to expect and deserve from the FGIA.

 Refunds

Refunds for registrants will be processed beginning next Monday, July 20, 2020. If you would like to apply your payment to the 2021 Florida Gang Investigators Association Conference registration, please email the FGIA at membership@fgia.com by midnight on July 19, 2020. Your 2020 payment will be applied to the 2021 conference and means you will be registered for the Swag bags! Please allow some time to process full registration fee refunds. If you or your agency has not received your refund by Aug 1, 2020, please email Leslie Rabon at leslie@fgia.com

 Hotel accommodations

The Hyatt Coconut Point has canceled the room block and you should  receive a room block cancellation  from them. However, if you made a reservation at another hotel or not within the FGIA room block, please make sure you cancel your reservation.

 Award Nominations

The 2020 award recipients will be announced the first week in August and presented to the recipients at later date.

 Training Opportunities

FGIA remains dedicated to providing relevant training opportunities to achieve our overall goals of keeping our members safe while also combating gang violence and violent crime in our communities. FGIA will communicate our other training opportunities to you. 

 Looking Forward

The 2021  FGIA Conference is scheduled for August 2-6, 2021. We will be returning to the Sawgrass Marriott in Ponte Vedra, FL.  For those registered for the 2020 event, we will be providing you will a complimentary 1–year membership, which will be effective August 1, 2020-July 31, 2021. We thank you for your unwavering support. We will miss you and hope to see you soon!

The FGIA is recognized as one of the most aggressive and effective gang associations in the world and prides itself in providing the top-of-the-line training dedicated to combating one of the greatest threats to our communities; GANGS! This Workshop is for Criminal Justice Professionals only (Law Enforcement, Corrections, Probation, Juvenile Justice, Prosecutors, Judges, Military Personnel, and Intelligence Analyst).

The Florida Gang Investigators Association reserves the right to refuse membership and attendance to any person, group, entity, organization, etc.


The 2020 FGIA Annual Training will take will be held at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs, FL ! Tucked away on 26 beautiful acres in the Naples area of Southwest Florida, Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa is a spectacular place to gather, connect and celebrate. Whether you’re planning a powerhouse conference or an elegant gala, our professional meeting and event planners will help coordinate all the elements, from audiovisual equipment to cuisine to group accommodations. LODGING AND ASSOCIATED FEES

  • Standard Room $149.00
  • The resort fee has been waived for attendees
  • There are no additional fees for parking. 

 

There are no complimentary meals provided by the hotel or the association. Beverages and light refreshments may be provided during the training. Hotel deadline  is July 11, 2020 - the hotel will not guarantee this rate after this date. A dedicated website is now available for your attendees to book their hotel rooms online. Reservations can be made starting September 1, 2019.

Onsite/walk-in Registration Add $25/person.

FGIA will offer one (1) complimentary conference registration for every three (3) workshop registrations per agency . This does not apply to Specialist Courses.  To receive the workshop registration gift bags, attendees must be registered by June 19, 2020. Workshop registration gift bags apply to workshop attendees ONLY. Specialist Course attendees, solely, are not eligible for these items.

PAYMENTS & CANCELLATIONS

FGIA accepts cash, check, credit card and purchase orders. All payments should be made payable to the Florida Gang Investigators Association and remitted to FGIA - Conference Registration 2220 CR 210 West, Suite 108, PMB 329, Saint Johns, FL 32359. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to membership@fgia.com by July 20, 2020, to receive a full refund. All cancellations are subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee. Refunds after this date will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Substitutions may be made at any time. In the event of a substitution, please email membership@fgia.com. Please include the registrants name you are canceling and the new registrants full name and agency email address.
